Gina Rinehart's Roy Hill project has begun a
campaign to recruit 8000 workers for the iron ore mine's construction,
according to the Australian Financial Review.
The $9.5 billion Roy Hill project will use up
to 1700 migrant workers in Australia during construction after it was
the first company to be allowed to use enterprise migration agreements
(EMA) by the federal government.
The EMA announcement created a political storm, with unions saying local workers were out on getting a foothold in the lucrative resources industry, but the company must show efforts to recruit Australian workers.
